HCAP is open to children living within Precinct One of Harris County. Both boys and girls between the ages of six and eighteen are eligible. Swimmers are screened for their skill level and placed in the appropriate program. Advanced swimmers are placed on the competitive tem. Novice swimmers are placed in the developmental program for instruction. Non swimmers are referred to beginner’s swimming lessons.
The Harris County Aquatics Program is conducted in three stages:
Stage I
Learn- to-Swim for youth 6 years and above taught by Certified Water Safety Instructors
Stage II
Competitive Strokes Training for youth 6 years and above taught by Certified Swim Coaches
Stage III
Competitive Team “Mighty Dolphins” 6 years and above taught by Certified Swim Coaches
